The Dutch Association of Japanese Language Teachers (ONK = Oranda Nihongo Kyoshikai) is pleased to announce the 9th ONK Japanese Language Festival, taking place in蘭塾 (Ran-Education), Leiden on Sunday, 15 February 2026.  

This event is a vibrant celebration of Japanese language, culture, and community, open to learners of all proficiency levels.

  • Location: 蘭塾 (Ran-Education), Schipholweg 55, 2316 ZL Leiden  

  (5 minutes’ walk from Leiden Centraal Station)

Program

Participants can enjoy a wide range of interactive activities designed to encourage active use of Japanese in real-life contexts:

  • Interactive language games
  • Level-based conversation sessions
  • Role-plays and situational practice
  • Guided activities led by native speakers and professional instructors
  • Cultural mini workshops, etc.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced speaker, the festival offers a supportive and engaging environment to practice Japanese, build confidence, and connect with fellow learners and educators.

 

About ONK (Oranda Nihongo Kyoshikai)

ONK is the Dutch Association of Japanese Language Teachers.  

We support Japanese language educators throughout the Netherlands by providing professional development opportunities, sharing teaching resources, developing learning materials, and organizing events that promote high-quality Japanese language education.

 

About the Japanese Language Festival (日本語まつり)

Since its launch in September 2023, the Japanese Language Festival has been held eight times.  

The festival provides learners with opportunities to practice Japanese outside the classroom through structured, interactive activities. All sessions are facilitated by professional teachers and native Japanese-speaking volunteers, ensuring a high-quality and immersive learning experience.
